I'm responsible for recruiting for six stores so my time is used interviewing potential employees and processing them through their journey. I will then follow up with how'd it going chats after a couple of weeks starting. I also do Payroll for some stores ensuring any issues or concerns are delt with as efficiently as possible.
I've gained knowledge and better understanding of the different area's or sub categories covered under the HR umbrella at greater depth. How to break tasks down and use a matrix to identify what needs prioritising and delegating and the knock on effects for taking on to much. It's helped better understand the importance of organizing my time.
I enjoy the learning and understanding of the reason's we do things as a company and I can now see it reflected in what we do. I like to find information and read about it. I like that you can easily send a message to your coach and get a response quite quickly.
I like that the learning plan is set out and you can easily see what needs doing and when by. You can take it at your own pace within reason and work your way ahead if you have the time so if you need time off you will be okay.
This is where this issue has been, I'm in good communication with my mentor but finding time to sit down and go through any issues is quite hard. Some of the work I have to do needs there input so I'm finding it hard to complete some tasks fully as I'm waiting for that time with my mentor to go through it with. The employer as a whole was happy for me to start the programme and supportive that I am completing it.
They respond to any messages I sent in a timely manor but there has been a lot of names mentioned and contacting me that I'm not sure who I'm meant to go to first. I feel more communication is needed in the first weeks or months for all the questions and reassurance needed. Wating to hear nearly two and half, three months later for feedback or markings to be completed or things done wrong could have been spotted earlier if that communication/support was there. Three months in you've been able to make these errors thinking your doing right.
In the long run I hope it helps me to develop further from my current role. I don't think it will make much difference to what I do day to day now but this will help for my future goals and aspirations with better insight and knowledge of the general system.
There are possible networking events that are held in regards to new systems etc but not that I generally get to go to. we do not have any other extra curricular activities.
Yes
They have good structure and systems and look after people by having many people contact you but this can become confusing. The plans in place are well throughout and manageable and you are provided with lots of materials and information to read.
Speak up sooner if there is an issue and chase for support or guidance. Use all tools available to you and plan and manage your time so you don't become overwhelmed.
