I supervise and manage 25 employees. Together we provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner service at the Hammersmith Hospital Restaurant. My daily tasks include paperwork, orders, writing daily menus and updating them on the intranet, stock take, rosta, hospitality functions, staff briefings, etc.
Since staring the apprenticeship, I've learned a lot knew skills. I am a hard working person but I did not have much knowledge about the operational management or leadership prior to the course. I increased my self awareness and emotional intelligence. I became more confident and I have learned many theories and models that are helpful when dealing with things like conflict resolution, effective communication, or time management.
I find the programme challenging and time consuming. However, I enjoy it and I am proud to come so far. I am sure, I will be able use all knowledge in the future and practice my skills.
I think the programme is well structured. At the beginning, it was confusing to use the Bud website which became easier with time. The programme is divided into different modules and that helps a lot.
My manager is very busy, sometimes it is hard to find time to catch up or discuss anything I might have issues with. However, my manager always gives me freedom and time to complete my assignments. She is very supportive and encouraging.
My personal tutor Nadya is very supportive and understanding. She explains everything well and makes me feel more confident. I feel lucky to have her as my mentor.
The knowledge and skills gained through the course helped me to take a step back and look at different issues from different perspectives. This allows me to be a better supervisor/leader, better manager my time and be a better communicator. There are more modules to learn, and I am looking forward to it.
At the moment I am not aware of any extra-curricular activities at my work.
Yes
It is a nice environment to work in. People are friendly and I feel I receive enough support from my management to perform my job as good as possible.
Being friendly, responsible and expert at anything you do will help you to stand out. Know the trust's values and incorporate them into your daily work/ life.
