UNderstanding and communicating the impact of change upon the business, and ensuring that the needs of the business are met while and after that change takes place. I also manage team of business analysts who have the same role. I communicate with internal and external stakeholders to define problems, opportunities and requirements, and to ensure that appropriate corresponding solutions are created and implemented.
During my time in this role I have developed new skills and developed existing skills, both in the world of analysis and the world of management/leadership. I have learnt practical skills and theoretical skills as a business analyst (with a certificate for the latter), and from my experience of management I've had opportunity to learn practically about leading, coaching, mentoring. Through the apprenticeship I've begun to understand a lot more of the theory behind my experience as a manager (and add to my practical skills too).
I enjoy the programme a lot, in spite of the constant workload. The opportunity to be exposed to so many different concepts and ideas (and all the interesting people who advocate them) is a fantastic one, and the necessity of putting into practice so much of what you learn is a highly rewarding challenge - it really helps the concepts and lessons sink in!
There is a high degree of structure, but the way in which things are organised are not always done with the apprentice user-experience in mind. There are constraints introduced by the learning service provider 's software platform as I understand things, and given the needs of multiple clients (as well as the coaching and support staff within each) , the end result is a somewhat muddled experience.
I receive great support from my employer - from being told about the apprenticeship as an opportunity available to me, to provision of a network of other apprentices, to having the time to work on my submissions and attend events, to having access to my managers time to tripartite sessions - everything I need is provided to me.
I receive plenty of support from my training provider - they provide a coach who is responsive to my emails, is available to meet with on a recurring basis, who gives helpful feedback on my submissions, and who is generally available for whatever I need (including when my personal/professional life means I need to rechedule things!).
It's a little early to say as I haven't gained it yet, however I do feel that I have an increased level of awareness in a range of situations that helps my performance at work (and occasionally at home). I'm able to consider different approaches to situations that I wouldn't have been aware of previously, and employ different techniques too.
There are lots of special interest groups and forums that are active in my work. I routinely receive updates from/about them from one or many sources, and can become active in them at any time. I'm aware of the value of these groups, and look forward to when I can participate in them more often.
Yes
NOt sure which company is being referred to here. My training provider because of the reasons listed in question #6. My employer because (among other things) of the reasons listed in question #5. Both these companies are clearly invested in the development of people which a worthy exercise I think.
Again, I'm not sure which company is being referred to here. It's a good company to apply to if you value helping others develop or you believe that personal development is something you'd like to explore. Make it clear how much you believe in/appreciate personal development as a basic point.
