  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Use of data has been critical in understanding our risks and exposures. How to articulate that data to then define requirements at the board level and face the risk and reputation committee in advising on the gaps we have and how we address these gaps in the long term is a whole new skill set I have developed

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The support I have received from coaching and mentoring, to the time off to study has been exemplary. The opportunity to network with other peers and learn from their experience has been priceless. I don't think I would have had half the opportunities afforded to me at another company

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The support from the talent team is second to none, even when my learning suffered due to the loss of my father during the programme the team supported my learning, demonstrated the values of earning trust in Pearson by advising on how best to recommence studies successfully and see the bigger picture.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The Learning development managers have been superb, they ahve supported my development an provided me with space when I needed it but then got me back on the right track to recommence my studies. The digital platforms, library and leaning materials have all been excellent and the one to one support when I was struggling was fantastic

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • If I reflect on my journey, I started the qualification as a manager, responsible for a specific geography. I am now the global director, responsible for policy, guidance and strategic direction. The influence of my role now affects over 20,000 colleagues and has it's own section within our annual report, without my learning journey I would not have been able to fulfil this role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have professional networking opportunities as part of our development and learning and employee business resource groups are voluntary, employee-created, and employee-led teams made up of colleagues who join together because of shared interests, characteristics, or life experiences. We also have a global volunteering policy that allows us to volunteer in the community using the skills we have from our professional lives.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pearson plc to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Pearson provides learning opportunities to it's customers but also lives by this as an organisation as it ensures that all staff have learning opportunities by providing the time, space and resources to be able to achieve their learning objectives. I have never worked anywhere else that allows you to focus on your development

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pearson plc?
  • Ensure you understand what opportunities your role may allow you to develop and never be afraid to be curious and challenge processes or policies. We all learn from diverse views and backgrounds so every voice matters, take the opportunity to be heard and influence your future and grab the opportunity with both hands.
