Within the first year we attend college for the entire week and attend plant every half term/college holiday. We spend this time in our assigned job role. In year 2 you will attend college on day release from plant.
Yes, I have learnt the following Skills: Turning/Milling operation Hand fitting Automotive electrical and maintenance Maths Communications/CAD Welding Sheet metal craft skills Engineering drawings Metrology And in plant operations (what I will be doing for a day job at the end of the 4 years).
It is a great opportunity to earn while you earn and you get to meet some amazing people.
Unfortunately it took college a few months to enrol us meaning completing assignments was very hard.
JLR is a great employer and have supported me through work, college and home.
The tutors are really helpful, unfortunately (it comes across to me) WCG has poor management
The foundation competencies have really helped level up my skills for the work place.
There are lots of extra curricular activities, clubs, I personally haven't gotten involved as of yet.
Yes
Great employer, local employer, walk away from the course with a qualification and most likely a job. Pay for the apprenticeship and great pay once you have qualified.
Just be yourself and try your best in the employment system and try your hardest at college and put effort in.
