As an Estimator, my job is to receive, price and send back surfacing bill of quants to clients who are looking for a price, while liaising with them closely during the tender stage.
Lots of surfacing knowledge etc while on the job. speaking more confidently with clients.
I really do enjoy my programme. It offers lots of opportunities inside and outside the workplace.
The structure is well organised, and any apprenticeship events are always pre planned and amended with our feedback following the events.
I receive lost of support from my employers regarding work, university and my overall development off the job, including going to different departments from time to time.
My training provider (University) set up bi monthly progress review meetings to discuss and aid my progress with the workplace.
My qualification gives me lots of insight into the general world of construction, however as expected it does not mention much about surfacing as it is a niche market.
Lots. have attended plenty of events and have daily interactions with many sub contractors from other companies, of whom I have built many great relationships with.
Yes
It is an interesting business where everyday is very different. The early careers programme is also a great incentive as you get to meet many new people, and the opportunity to be sent to uni is great.
Just be yourself as the business is very welcoming and its a good place to work.
