Technical apprentice - Working on different projects and in different departments (rotating every 3 months) in varied engineering disciplines. Also, lots of opportunity to get involved in community projects and also internally to advance the apprenticeship scheme itself.
I quickly advanced existing skills in IT and some aspects of engineering whilst also being able to communicate more effectively with work colleagues and senior managers. I hope to extend my engineering knowledge even further.
I love it, working with a large group of apprentices with similar interests is really helpful. Also, working with cutting edge technology on a daily basis constantly keeps me in amazement.
There is a very good reward system employed by Selex and if you exceed expectations then it will not go unnoticed. Personally I received shopping vouchers just for doing my job!!
The programme is run very efficiently and you receive as much support and training as you are willing to ask for. The college course is very relevant to your job role and regular meetings with the apprentice manager help to keeo track of progress and identify areas of improvement.
The college is very supportive of Selex apprentices and will always strive to help out and put extra effort in if you show an interest in it.
Selex have a very comprehensive and competent HR department that are there to be utilised at your discretion. The manager is very supportive and always pushes the apprentices to achieve their full potential. Help and support are readily available whenever it is required
The salary structure is fantastic for apprentices, starting off at £13k in first year!! Not many apprentices can grumble at the pay structure.
