  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a software developer my role involves writing code and tests, overseeing deployment, responding to tickets which come to the team, fixing bugs, researching new projects.

    9/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes! Before this I had no professional software development experience aside from hobby projects. This apprenticeship has improved my software development skills tremendously whilst learning how code is written and delivered in a professional setting.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme. Bloomberg is a fantastic company to work for and I have felt extremely welcome throughout my entire time here. I have been privileged to work on fun and interesting projects and given responsibility by the team.

    10/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There has been some poorly organised moments of my programme. This comes down to poor communication and planning between both ADA and Bloomberg. With modules being swapped and moved a week away from starting or confusing guidelines of when we would graduate.

    4/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Bloomberg have always been accommodating when it comes to my needs, especially around the apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a good amount of support from the training provider but often this support or advice can misleading, wrong and cause confusion.

    6/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I dont feel like my qualification or any of the training is beneficial to the work that I do. The training is incredibly shallow and the tuition is mainly very baseline that you would find on Google. There is also a lack of depth in technical knowledge from tutors.

    1/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes! One of my favourite things about Bloomberg is how social the company is. I play in the golf league and the chess club. There are many other activities such as volunteering and social events.

    10/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Bloomberg to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Great secure company with fantastic employee benefits such as healthcare, pension, work life balance etc. Plenty of opportunities with exciting work to be done. The people are all fantastic too. All extremely intelligent and kind. There is a great culture at Bloomberg with really does harbour interactivity.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bloomberg?
  • Study the fundamentals of data structures and algorithms.
