  • On a daily basis I go out on site to record activities taking place on site. I check work as it's being completed to ensure that it is being built to the specification. I am also involved with sustainability on this project.

  • Whilst on this project I have learned more about setting out and what to look out for on site. I have also learned to fly a drone on this project.

  • I am really enjoying my project.

  • The programme is really well organised and structured.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel really supported on the project that I am currently on, my team have allowed me to reach my best potential both at work and at university.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Nottingham Trent has been pretty good but unfortunately some lecturers don't understand that apprentices work full time and therefore can't do sessions that are on a working day.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Some of the modules definitely give me a better understanding of what is happening on site and why it is happening. Not all modules align with my role but that is to be expected as civil engineering is a very varied role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The project I'm on runs fortnightly football, and arranges social activities such as bowling. The project will also be running a networking event for ICE in June.

  • Yes

  • Balfour Beatty is a really welcoming and supportive company with so many wonderful staff that you can rely on. I am very happy working for Balfour Beatty and I feel very proud to be apart of this company.

  • Definitely apply! If you get an interview then just be yourself.
