I assist the design team in producing detailed drawings and models of proposed designs on a number of different projects. I have also taken part on inspections of existing infrastructure. My daily tasks can vary depending on which project I am involved with on that day.
I have improved my skills with modelling software during my time on the apprenticeship as well as improving my report writing skills.
I am really enjoying my time on the programme. I have had a lot of varied experience to assist my growth and keep the days interesting as I am not doing the same thing for too long.
The programme is well structured due to the presence of early careers advisors within the business. If I am having any issues or questions about my programme there is always someone there that I can go to for assistance.
I receive a lot of support from my employer and have many points of contact within the business including other apprentices, my line manager, my mentor and the early careers team.
I receive a good amount of support from the training provider, I have regular meetings with a training provider representative and my mentor to ensure that I am happy and that everything is progressing as it should. This is a good opportunity for me to ask questions or raise concerns.
By progressing through my qualification I have gained a better base line understanding of the day to day tasks I do and of the design decisions that have been made on my projects.
There are regular sports and social events being arranged that anyone is welcome to get involved with. Some of these are also linked to charities and so you can have a good time whilst giving back to the community.

Mott MacDonald is a good company with a good reputation in the industry. This means that there is a lot of opportunity to work on some challenging and varied projects in the UK and abroad. The culture is very friendly and supportive leading to a positive atmosphere at work.
If you are applying with no industry experience do not let that intimidate you. Apprentices are not expected to know everything day 1, all you are expected to do is show an interest and willingness to learn.
