Since joining Thames I have learnt how to produce environmental deliverables for projects. Uni has allowed me to learn about environmental law and how it is applied within my job through the procedures we must follow. I learned about the corporate environment and how the environment can have large implications of project or any new infrastructure.
I really enjoy my program. I think get the best of both where I am able to to go to university and experience in person lectures whilst gaining experience within a job role and putting what I learn into practice
On Thames waters behalf the course is well organized. The program with the University is slightly less structured due to the course only being run for a few years.
I have received so much support from my employer whether that be regarding them giving us time within our working week to complete my university assignments or providing networking opportunities with other areas of the business that relate to university semesters.
I have received a fair amount of support from the training provider by having check-ins every three months.
I believe the qualification helps me perform better within my role the majority of the time. There are some university topics that have little relation to my job but that is to be expected as there is a variation of topics.
There are extra curricular activities provided to get involved in such as networking events and networks.
Yes
I would recommend Thames water as they have provided me with a fantastic opportunity as well as allowing me to learn and gain experience within the industry at a young age whilst being in a supporting environment that promotes personal development.
The advice I would give to others applying at Thames water is if you have any sort of interest in an apprenticeship they are offering apply and demonstrate why you are passionate about it whether it be previous topic you have study and enjoyed or just a hobby that led you to wanting a career within the industry.
