As a network engineer I am dealing with issues that are related to the physical side of the network, problem solving and helping to maintain the service we provide to all customers.
I have come from a trading background, however with Virgin Media O2 I have been given great support and training to enhance my overall skills and knowledge of becoming a network engineer.
There are two roles to the network engineer, the hands on side which I feel most comfortable with and the virtual side which is very interesting. I am really enjoying my learning experience so far even though it is a lot to learn.
I feel that there could be more structure and better acknowledgement of the work I do on a day to day basis compared to the course work I do for the Level 4 network engineer with Estio.
Virgin Media O2 as an employer have be amazing from the start, I have felt supported and given plenty opportunities to improve my skills. There as so many support systems in place, ranging from work to mental health and well being outlets.
I have 3 days per month which are tutor lead lessons, also there are drop in sessions for anyone who may need extra support or for reassurance. I am also able to contact my tutor and assessor if I need further support.
I feel that the course work and job are different, however I know they are related in networking and it will provide me the skills for when I want to move forward into more specialist area's in the future.
VIrgin Media O2 are AMAZING at providing opportunities across a whole spectrum of area's, health and well being, specialist courses, meet ups virtually and face to face. They're always coming up with new idea's and innovations.

I love my role and am excited about becoming a network engineer, but also Virgin Media O2 as a whole offer so much security and benefits which makes me feel happy and wanted in my role. Also the team I work in is fantastic.
