  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a Hgv apprentice my day to day involved, learning how to safely and efficiently deliver goods from the warehouse to the store. This includes learning how to conduct all relevant safety checks to my vehicle and load at the start of my shift learning how to manage and drive a large goods vehicle safely on the road, as well as learning to conduct myself around my colleagues at stores and customers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt many new skills, driving a heavy goods vehicle on the round can be a daunting task and one I thought I would never be able to do, but thanks to the support system at Aldi it is one I accomplished and enjoy the experience of learning and improving my skill everyday.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience as an apprentice, it has pushed me to be better and be the best version of myself this is in large part thanks to Aldi and there training team, helping me and my fellow apprentices every step of the way and supporting us through every challenge.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Are programme was well structured and had clear goals and milestones from the start, we had alot of time and space allocated specifically for us to learn the skills and obtain the knowledge to allow us to complete are course in the best ways possible, as well as regular meeting and check ins from are training provider.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support we have received from Aldi has been incredible, we have been given every opportunity to succeed in this. Aldi are deeply passionate in creating great apprentices , with a great support system around them, this is something I'm very thankful for, and special thank you to the training team in Aldi.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Through out the course we received alot of help and support from are training provider, with alot of help with study material and regular check ins and meeting to help assess areas for improvement and helping to prepare us for are end point assessments, Gtg training was a great asset to me and my fellow apprentices.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Having gone through this qualification, means that I have had a extremely high quality of training and education of the subject of driving heavy goods vehicles and I belive this has made me a much better skilled and conscience driver, and this makes myself and everyone around me much safer and happier on the road.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Aldi regularly put on events through out the year, for example "family fun days" these are social events that allow people to come together with their families, this aswell as that we have an app that allows people to see all schemes and activities Aldi are involved in, making it easy for people to see what is available to them.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Aldi are a company I feel prides itself on taking care of its employees making sure they have every opportunity to be the best version of themselves, and I believe they truly care about people's well beings and lives and can be flexible and understanding to people's individual situations and circumstances.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • As long as you show yourself to be someone who is honest and takes pride in the work you do and the way you communicate with others, then you will be well taken care of and will have a long and happy career at Aldi. I truly belive this as some one who has spent the last 8 years of my life at Aldi.
