My daily responsibilities include, daily cash forecasting for our three different business entities, updating our 'Cost Of Money Tracker' tracker based on the latest market reports. Executing the loans we take and also involved in the discussions on which measures will take based on the current market conditions.
IT skill, from using new pieces of software for my daily tasks, I have developed my Excel skills so I can now confidently use various formulas and build graphs to show various pieces of data. I have built on my communication skills, by having professional conversations with members of the business.
I would say greatly, it has been an amazing opportunity for me and has given me a broad insight into the world of finance and treasury. The work I do I find really interesting and I have been given opportunities I would never have got if I went to university.
I would say from BMW's perspective it has been faultless hence the score. However, I have had some issues with Kaplan with regards to having my exams booked in the correct time window.
I have a huge amount of support from BMW, I have always been made to feel more than comfortable reaching out for help if ever I've needed it. I have a great team around me who I can reach out to with questions, I also have weekly catch ups with members of my team to make sure I'm getting on okay and I don't any problems and if there's thing I want to go over.
I would say when it comes to the teachers there is a great amount of support and I can reach out to them if I have any queries regarding the course of topics. But I have catch ups with my 'Talent Coach' every six weeks, and I potentially feel they might just have too many students to manage as it doesn't feel as much of a personal experience as it could be.
Most of the topics do really help within my role for example the 'Management Accounting' module has really helped me with the tasks within my job. However, I wouldn't say that every topic is that way, for example the 'Preparing Financial Statements' module is more aimed at a technical accounting role.
There are a great deal of extra curricular activities to get involved in, I play in the weekly five aside football after work which has really helped me to meet new people around the business in a more social setting. There was also bi weekly lunches with all of the apprentices from across the cohorts this enabled me to meet a lot of people in a similar position to me and learn about their roles and the challenges they face within their apprenticeship.
Yes
I feel that it is a great place to work and a brilliant environment to thrive within an apprenticeship.
Be confident within your interview stages and don't doubt yourself or your answers. Also read about the BMW values and try to look for ways to apply them to yourself and situations where you have demonstrated them.
