  • Varies from day to day, college is 5 days a week from 9am to 4pm. Ranges from workshop skills, electrical and academic subjects on BTEC day such as Maths and theory based subjects.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Lots of new skills. Prior to the job I had zero experience and now gained a much greater understanding of the subjects as well as my place in the workplace.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • On the day to day it’s fairly enjoyable but there are communication issues and a lack of structure that hinders the experience and learning potential massively.

  • Sometimes we are missing entire timetables until the week we start as well as undefined finishing and ending time.

  • Support from the employer is great with weekly messages and visits to see how we are doing.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Opinions are mixed as it varies from tutor to tutor but overall most give structured lessons and teaching supports.

  • Yet to be determined but it’s given me a much better understanding of the practically involved.

  • Not looked into it left experience in the middle.

  • Great support from everyone at BMW and can tell they are passionate about everyone in this role.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Be open and do lots of research on the role prior to properly understand what you are wanting to do. Knowing that this is a career.
