I work as a work level one, Getting involved in all different tasks, so far I've been involved in building servers, Working with VIP support and helping with the migrations of Emails into Microsoft's Cloud. I have also built support documents for services such as Yammer and Cisco's WebEx.
I have had the chance to develop my excel skills a lot, learning how to use it effectively in a Tesco environment, as well as learning new skills around how large companies manage their users through Active Directory.
I love the scheme i am on, For someone slightly over the normal apprentice age (24) i was a little worried i wouldn't fit, but you are given the opportunity to do what you would like to. Ultimately you get out what you put in.
When you join Tesco, you feel a little redundant, as you are normally there with limited knowledge, but this changes quickly if you work hard and build working relationships and you prove you can be trusted. You quickly see how your work affects the whole company and you are given the chance to work with all different levels of management as well as every part of the company.
The structure is Very good, we do reviews every 6 weeks and build a good relationship with the support teams.
The support level is really good, we do reviews as previously mentioned, and have the opportunity to raise any concerns when they arise. and the reviews give us a good overview of how we are performing.
We Have done a number of training days, to help us discover what kind of worker we are, and how we deal with situations. building up confidence and helping us meet other apprentices outside of our department.
The pay, is one of the best packages for an apprentice I've ever seen. as a idea most of the apprentices have went out and bought brand new cars (probably not the best move) but gives you a real sense of growing up and having a bit of extra cash.
There are normally quarterly social events such as bowling and nights out, where the company books an area in a nightclub where you can socialize with your colleges and enjoy a few drinks.
Yes
Where to start, the pay is normally honestly peoples main concern, which in this scheme is fantastic for an apprenticeship, but the responsibility and challenges you get are fantastic and you progress really quickly if you are willing to put the work in.
Be yourself, Tesco loves people with personality. Its found all over the offices, where you see people passion for what they are doing come out. I am also a strong believer in customer service, so i have a firm stance of phone someone and dealing in first person as opposed to lots of emails, but this isn't strict for everyone. what ever works for you.
