I work on what you would call dekit which means removing pallets and cages from the trailer and cleaning it ready for the loaders to load.
Yes I have learnt how to safely operate PPT and LLOP and the cardboard & plastic bailer and compactor.
I enjoy doing this programme as it is teaching me that you don't just drive the vehicle, there's many types of vehicles and hazards that are involved and being able to spot them early means less chances of an accident and saving fuel.
It's very well organised, but personally I prefer more frequent showing than once per month.
My shift manager/employer is very supportive of me on this course because I work nights and the course is days so being able to do it on my days off is great.
My tutor Lee Rogers is a great person to help me with whatever I am struggling with. Definitely recommend him.
I'm doing this course to be able to drive for the company once the course is complete. Until then I've been able to focus more and spot hazards quicker.
There are different activities, but they tend to be whilst I'm resting for my shift.
