  • I am training to be a Funeral Director. My role is to support our clients arrange a funeral tailored to their needs. I act as an advocate on their behalf and uphold the highest standards.

  • Lots. Communication skills, listening skills, leaderships skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I like to arrange my own work load and learning and this apprenticeship gives me the flexibility to do this.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Again, I have control over my learning and experience. I fit it around my current role.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is always on hand. The only thing I would say is to be pushed more to be hands on.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My couch is available and checks in. She is very knowledgeable and has lots of experience to share and point me in the right direction.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I learn about not only doing the role but what it takes and the bits in between that will help me progress to be the best I can be. Lots of videos, and information is available to complete my tasks. I can refer back to them again/again.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Maybe the NAFD conference. I am always looking for extra courses or experiences to help me.

  • Yes

  • We are all about being diverse and inclusion. What the community wants shapes our vision and goals and we work in a democratic way. The coop have invested in me so I can progress in this business.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • Do your research and look up our values . We want like minded people to join and help the business grow.
