  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Business Administration role, extremely varied work. I work closely with Construction Managers dealing with landlord's consent for alterations within our properties. I work closely with the Partnerships team and our external partners including InstaVolt, conducting background checks from an Estates perspective to determine the most suitable sites for Co-op and InstaVolt. I help with both internal and external comms - I am Property Comms Champion for Estates and Acquisitions within Property and help run the Co-op Property LinkedIn page.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed lots of existing skills including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, leadership and, reliability. Two skills which Co-op have really allowed me to develop is teamwork and communication. Within my apprenticeship I spent time with different teams within Property, meeting new people and learning about different roles.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my apprenticeship programme with the Co-op and Damar. My line manager and the Co-op are really supportive in allowing me 20% off the job hours to complete my study work. I am considering doing a higher level apprenticeship with the Co-op after this Level 3 depending on how well this one goes!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured and Co-op have provided me with enough experience to help demonstrate what is expected of me from my training provider. I have spent time with different teams within Property which allow me to meet new people and improve my understanding of Property as a whole.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support I receive from my employer is great. I am given more than enough time to complete my apprenticeship work. My line manager is extremely supportive of my studies, we have regular meetings and discussions around and the challenges I am facing with my studies.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support I receive from my training provider Damar is great. We have group coaching sessions for each module where I meet with the other apprentices and discuss topics we have learnt about during the pre-work and main learning sessions. My coach is really helpful in answering any questions I have.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The skills I have learnt through my qualification have definitely helped me in my role. Communication, leadership and teamwork are skills which I believe I have really developed whilst working towards my qualification. I am much more confident in the workplace and enjoy meeting new people.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of networking events for me to attend including Property conferences and Estate conferences. Co-op also work with networking companies such as Strive which are more networking events for me get involved in. I would like get involved with some more extra-curricular activities in work involving sports such as Football, I am not aware that the Co-op offer this however, the other activities they offer are great!

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Co-op to anyone who is looking for a place to work. Co-op offer lots of benefits including their hybrid working scheme, discounts on products/services and, a fantastic pension scheme. I am proud to say I work for the Co-op because we are focussed on making a difference, building a fairer world for our members.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • Learn the culture, be proactive and ask lots of engaging questions to the interview to show your interested and don't be afraid to talk about you and why you are a good standout for the role.
