I am a supervisor at a pub so I provide customer service and ensure smooth running of lunch and dinner service. Also training up new staff and ensuring company visions and values are adhered to. I run shifts and also do back of house things such as line checks, spot checks and stock count
Definitely, when I started the apprenticeship I had no idea about the legislation or types of leadership that are required to be an efficient and fair supervisor. I also found it hard to have difficult conversations, but I now feel much more confident in my role thanks to the apprenticeship
I had a few apprenticeship leaders in the beginning who I did not feel supported or motivated me and actually made my experience more difficult. However, when Filipa became my leader it all changed. She has definitely been the reason why I completed my apprenticeship at all, she provided so much support and encouragement that it felt like a dream to complete and less like a chore. I went from dreading my progress meetings to being excited about the opportunities I was going to get. She has been excellent.
It is quite well organised although multiple course materials have spelling mistakes and difficult to understand grammar sometimes. I could see how someone who’s first language is not English could find it difficult to follow as I did myself. Without Filipa I would’ve found the organisation difficult but she helped me every step of the way to understand.
Lots of support from my manager who went out of his way to ensure I felt confident in my role before even being promoted.
Other trainers I had were very poor at supporting me and my style of learning, but Filipa Made me feel very secure and confident in my learning and ability, making the whole experience feel easy by taking the pressure off and letting me learn how I feel comfortable
Much better as I know legislation and things you don’t learn from practical experience which helps me be a better team leader
