I work in the Investment Operations Reconciliations department and this entails looking at our clients accounts and essentially monitoring their cash and stock transactions, making sure the account is not facing any unusual activity and if it is why this is occurring.
I have definitely learned new skills, time management being the most prominent as well as decision making skills. In times of struggle when support is not readily available I have to use my own initiative which has also contributed to increased confidence.
I really enjoy the program. Having supportive mentors and managers really makes the experience less daunting and provides me with a sense of ease surrounding new and difficult experiences which are intended to help me prosper in my role.
My program is very well structured, the team work is great and from the very start it was heavily encouraged that we reach out for support in any which way. In doing so I got to understand a lot more about the bank and the roles of different people.
A huge amount of support! The company and managers in particular a fully aware of how new and different this experience is for us apprentices so they take great care in making sure the learning and development plans fit our needs as learners whilst also allowing us time for out on the job learning.
The training provider seeks to give us learners as much opportunity to learn as possible. Providing us with an array of different workshops and masterclasses to solidify our learning. They also give a generous time period for our exams putting less pressure on us as learners as our responsibilities grow within our day to day roles.
Although the qualification is not directly linked to my role it has given me the opportunity to learn different industry jargon which can come in handy when discussing client procedures and protocols. It has also helped me become more familiar with the type of clients I work with and what kind of transactions I will be looking at from day to day.
Yes. I am a part of the Global Fund Services business resource council, the People Pillar. I am in the engagement group where I help organise and host networking events with the banks senior professionals and also support other groups like DE&I and the sports and social team.
Yes
They have been extremely supportive from the minute I got invited to an interview. They are very personable and have made this new and scary experience so much more enjoyable. I felt comfortable from the moment I joined the company and have been welcomed by everyone since. They provide an immense amount of support for new learners and support all kinds of initiatives to better our experience here.
Be yourself. The idea is to see both your capabilities in the workplace, as well as your personality to ensure you are placed within a team that encourages the best from you. In order to do so you need to be authentic in that interview room. Give the interviewers something to remember you by, maybe ask them a question about the role?
