  • My role is working on the transfers in team, we process direct client transfers in from external providers

  • As a first office job, this role has helped me develop both my financial knowledge, as well as my personal confidence and communicating skills

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Working as an apprentice is not as simple as i thought it would be. It’s challenging trying work manage the work load with my education in such a busy industry, however the outcome is rewardinf

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The learning course is broken down into Units, which makes it easier to track my progress. The resources available to us are very helpful, however i think the timing out to do the work should be more structured such as being allocated an hour per day etc

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • there are multiple support resource availiable, managers are very approachable, and the apprenticeships coordinators are always happy to help, and keep in contact to make sure we’re on track

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Managers and the apprenticeships team are always checking in to ask if i need any more time in busy periods to make sure I stay on track.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that my qualification links very well within my role, it allows me to assist clients with more niche queries, and provide them with my knowledge to ensure they can make an informed decision

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Each team often do team socials where we arrange to meet outside of work for food etc. We also sponsor the Great Run series, so we gain free entry when applying, and we have a monthly payday drinks in our lounge, which takes place on the last Friday of every month.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The atmosphere is ideal for young people just starting out in a career. Support is availiable and everyone is very approachable


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AJ Bell?
  • Advocate for yourself, going from standard mainstream education to an apprenticeship is a bit of a shock. You need to be able to learn to manage your time, and speak up whenever you need extra time or help.
