  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I manage a team of four Rights & Permissions Analysts and Administrators. My role is to support the end-to-end rights & permissions workflow ensuring third-party assets (text/photos/video/audio) are licensed for use in our Global educational courseware products. This includes reviewing workflows and processes, governance, mentorship/coaching, provision of training to stakeholders, providing budgetary advice and guidance around scheduling.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my knowledge around key areas of the business and its processes through discussions with colleagues and stakeholders. I have also developed as a manager and learnt alot more about the processes of recruitment, onboarding, training & development and supporting my line reports in a Global hybrid working environment.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • As the program moves on and I am developing new skills to support and facilitate my role, I am enjoying the course more. I have learnt that you certainly do get out of the course what you put in. The course is engaging and thought provoking and is certainly challenging me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is really well structured and supported. The Pearson apprenticeship are incredibly helpful and available to support you through the program, and discuss ways forward. The course delivery is very organised and structured well. There is alot of content and processes you have to engage with as an apprenticeship which can be challenging at times.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The Pearson apprenticeship team are very supportive and have your best interests at heart. They encourage you to be the best version of yourself. I have experienced personal challenges over the past year and Pearson have been very supportive in helping me work through so that I can continue with the program including letting me have time to catch-up with my study.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider has been incredibly helpful and supportive. They have provided guidance and direction, and I meet with them often to collaborate on how I can move forward in the programme. They provide constructive feedback and are easily contactable. I have found my experience to be very positive in my 2nd year of study.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have been able to take away elements of my learning and apply to my role. In particular around managing people, I have learnt how to improve my skills to better support my growing team. I am also learning more about other areas of our organisation which I would never have otherwise engaged with.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Pearson offers opportunities for wider engagement through different platforms. This may be in-person activities in the office or on-line activities via MS Teams or Zoom. There are Employee Resource Groups including disabilities, LGBTQ+, Menopause, Family support etc. The Pearson Apprenticeship team also host live events to celebrate, educate and support apprentices in the business.

  • Yes

  • I have always been an advocate for Pearson having worked for the company on and off over the past 35 years. The people are what make Pearson. It's employees are fantastic. The benefits are really good, and there are opportunities to grow and develop if you put in the time and effort.

  • Pearson is an advocate for learning and development, and growth. Be engaged, be curious, ask questions, challenge and innovate.
