- 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Royal London Asset Management?
- Responsibilities such as controls, tasks and procedures given by relationship managers - projects such as a quality check matrix - attending meetings with my team, meetings such as service reviews, compliance team and operations team meetings - networking events, understanding Royal London Asset Management as a business - Oversighting, attention to detail
- developed excel, outlook and Bloomberg skills - learnt how to use an invoicing system, what an invoice needs to be paid - procedures of different controls - development existing skills such as communication, problem solving, organisation, social, attention to detail skills - analytical skills - regulation and oversighting - quality assurance
- The work side of the programme has been enjoyable from learning new controls - flexible working - remote and in office - tasks, controls and procedures are interesting and easy to work with - Having a nice team who is happy to help and answer questions when needed - the study side can be difficult when it is new content that you have not come across before - hard to grasp new concepts - balancing work and study
- the work side of my programme is very well structured, the managers know what responsibilities they would like to give me, they understand my workload and pace. they understand not only work goals but also life goals. They understand how I work although they may not work the same - however the study side of my programme is organised I have a structure - which is not set in stone, it is flexible to how I would like to complete things. Although it is intense, you have to push yourself
- Support is everywhere, through resources and time that is given to me. - my employer is very supportive, they ensure I am happy with my programme regularly. they let me know that they are their to help and support me no matter what. -
the support is okay as most of the work is done by you, they can only guide you to what you should be doing, but they are their for any questions or anything your struggling on. the workshops are good however they are quite long (16 hours split into 2 days), it would be better if these were split along the week. the content can be hard to grasp especially if you are new to financial services.
My qualification does link to my role, however my role does not go in depth in funds and investments as we do not do the trading or see much of it. however the qualification does go in depth, but their are a few things that help me understand my organisation more
Yes there is, social activities, summer activities, quiz nights and little games or hunts that happen according to a religious or cultural event. their are networking events too and team meetings. as well as calls to attend where the CEO is speaking
Yes
- the people are kind, welcoming, always ready to help - the culture is different its flexible work both office and remote - Managers accept that we have a life outside of work and that it matters, work is not the only thing we do. Life happens and we cannot always give up our life outside of work. - inclusive - enjoyable teams
- be professional - be yourself - be social although it is hard for people who are not, but it is good to get out your comfort zone once in a while - work on your relationship with your manager, don't be afraid of them. - maintain a good relationship with your team, teamwork skills
