  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves managing our Suppliers performance against the contract we have in place with them. The work is really varied and rarely the same day to day. Due to all the different commodities, you get to learn different areas which is really interesting.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • This role was completely new to me when I moved into it. I'd worked alongside the Supply Chain team in a previous role, but never undertaken Supplier Management which is why I started the apprenticeship. I've been able to learn the theory behind the practice, understand why we do things, and think differently. There's so much to procurement and the skills are really transferrable.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Really enjoyed the actual qualification. The apprenticeship at times felt like duplication from the qualification and lots of 'red tape'. Overall though, it's been invaluable.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Good!

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • An abundance, RSA really supports it's staff members to further their own development and my studies have always been supported by direct leaders.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Really good. The trainers have a huge amount of real life experiences to help you cement your learning.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Very much so, I'm a better Supply Chain Manager for completing my qualification. I naturally think more broadly and certain pieces of work have included a layer that I wouldn't have perhaps understood as much before completing the training.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

  • 9a. Would you recommend RSA Insurance Ltd to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Really supportive company to work for!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSA Insurance Ltd?
  • Go for it, there's a huge amount of opportunity within RSA. I'd have never known this was the job i'd wanted to do before working for RSA!
