  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role in Unilever is within the ‘consumer and market insights’ function, CMI provokes transformational action through insights from market research, and my team within CMI is the data and tools team. We use data and data analysis tools to help us understand the performance of specific products. PDC stands for ‘People Development Centre’. PDC is a part of CMI, it is transforming Unilever inside-out towards hyper-personalization, this hyper-personalization then gives us an unprecedented ability to act at scale.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've adopted a lot of skills that I didn't carry before. For example my Microsoft Office skills weren't good at all but within my role I need to use it everyday and I have developed extremely well. I can now use Excel Spreadsheets confidently day to day. Another skill I've developed is my presenting skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme. I learn a lot from my training provider and also constantly from just interacting with colleagues who have been working at Unilever for a while. I appreciate my manager and my team with the constant support I get. One thing I love about my team is that I am not made to feel silly just because I don't know something and everyone is very happy to help me learn.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My training provider's programme (Multiverse) is very structured and organised. We do workshops every month that are supposed to prepare us for our upcoming Module. • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive plenty of support from my training provider for this. When I submit my Module my multiverse coach will bring it up in our coaching session and he'll explain where I went wrong and where I should improve on. I'm also given two objectives monthly to help work towards my EPA and develop constantly.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Unilever is a great place to work at. It is a company with a diverse portfolio of products and has a beautiful end goal. Unilever's main focus is sustainability Unilever's purpose is to make sustainable living commonplace. This means that Unilever drives its brands, people, and partners to tackle issues that consumers care deeply about, such as climate change, plastic pollution, and inequality. And I believe that this is a beautiful goal.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • My top tip would be to ask as many questions as possible! Don't think that because you're asking questions to your interviewer that they may find you annoying, that is something that makes you stand out. The desire to want to learn as much as you can is very admirable. Another tip is to know your purpose - know what your bigger picture is.
