I am part of a global team working across various brands, focusing on digital fields, particularly content performance. I regularly collaborate with multiple markets and meet with both internal and external teams. My role comes with a growing amount of responsibility and a variety in day-to-day tasks,
My line managers and wider team have always been very supportive in teaching me new skills and extending my current skillset, making me feel more confident at work and experience the benefits of having a wider breadth of knowledge in the industry.
I have hugely enjoyed my programme, due to the people I have worked with, the support I have felt in starting my career, and the actual work I have been doing as I always feel that I am contributing in a real way to the work my team produces with a fair amount of responsibility.
My programme could be structured better, with clearer direction from the Careers team. There is a role rotation halfway through the programme, however this process was difficult and meant that I had to organise the rotation between other apprentices myself.
There is a lot of support offered elsewhere from the Future Careers team, in terms of workshops and networking opportunities. However, the majority of the support I receive is directly from my team and managers who have always made me feel very supported.
Feedback varies from module to module, however the actual training provider has provided suboptimal support and information regarding the offboarding of the programme.
This varies depending on what module is being studied, however I do believe that in general learning the basic core principals of marketing has definitely helped me perform better in my role - and also working in an industry role has helped me with the learning at university.
There are different clubs and networks that can be joined, as well as semi-regular networking opportunities for all apprentices, industrial placement students, and graduates. These are all optional.
Yes
I have massively enjoyed my time as an apprentice and it is great to work for such a large company that really values its employees. I have always felt valued within my team, and never like a burden to teach.
Make sure you know the different business groups within the company and have a focus on your personal purpose and how this aligns with Unilever's purpose.
