1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I would prepare personal tax returns for clients during Autumn and Winter. During Spring and Summer i would be keeping in contact with clients and providing advice work where appropriate.

Yes, I have built on my communication skills massively since i first joined the firm.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I loved the school leaver programme. It is a great chance for individuals to earn money and study at the same time without having any debt!

The school leaver programme is very well organised.

I receive a lot of support from not only my team but from the professional qualifications team.

I receive a good amount of support from my training provider. The resources available are extremely useful.

It gave me the confidence to apply the theory into practice.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are a huge amount of extra-curricular activities to get involved with. We have a Next Gen event which means that we can connect with people within the private client service industry, i.e. Lawyers, Bankers, and other accountants. There are of course always opportunities to get involved with sports and social activities.

9a. Would you recommend BDO to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

It is a very good company to work for. The support you get from them is amazing. The internal training is so in depth. You get to make a load of new friends.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BDO?

I would say that University is not the only option. I was never academically clever so this was another alternative to be a chartered tax advisor whilst earning money and learning on the job.
