  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role at aldi is to develop my knowledge and experience to a point where i can eventually become a manager for the store. I complete the same tasks on a day-to-day basis as a standard store assistant, aswell as undertaking some managerial roles within my work hours to try and begin to understand what it’s like being a manager at aldi

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely improved my confidence and socialization skills here at aldi, which makes me feel a lot more comfortable talking to customers, aswell as some of my colleagues without having to worry or stress about it being awkward.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My apprenticeship programme is especially helpful with not only understanding the reasons i do what i do here at aldi, but aswell as extending my knowledge on things i thought i already knew about, which is surprising that an online programme impact my job role as much as it does.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have scheduled meetings every month which come under working hours nicely and conveniently to ensure i am on track and having the correct level of understanding of the work i am completing. As well as constant access to my Trainer who is willing to talk to me and help me out as much as i need to and as well as i need to

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive occasional help from my employer as of when i need it, however sometimes it’s hard as i am not always on shift with them and it’s quite hard to get a hold of them outside of work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my trainer, they are most of the time available to talk to for any help or guidance that i may require, or even just a chat about how i feel about my course which is amazing and a great help when it comes to getting through my apprenticeship with a good level of knowledge, understanding and experience.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel it definitely helps me to perform better in my role as it reminds me that i’m not just a store assistant here at aldi, i am on an apprenticeship which means i am on course to eventually become a manager and have more roles and responsibilities here at Aldi.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is very rarely any activities or events offered outside of work just because it is such a busy store and there are always in need of a good amount of hours consistently on the shop floor, however this the occasional meetup outside of work for people just to get together and hang out not having to worry about work.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • For the most part, aldi is a great place to work at and customers tend to be quite friendly, aswell as the staff team being very helpful and reliable. The hours tend to cause a few issues for some people, but you can always request different if it is needed.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • Make sure you are ready to work hard as it is more of a physically demanding job than people might think, it requires a lot of self control as some customers may be trying to give you a hard time, and it is a very challenging yet fun place to work at.
