Trainee Business adviser: My day-to-day role is processing invoices that we receive from my client into accounting softwares such as Sage, Dimensions etc. I also perform bank reconciliations and analytic reviews of Aged Creditors.
Considering that I have a science background, Accounting is the furthest thing from it I have become skilled in using Sage and confident in talking to clients on a daily basis. I have been on excel courses to improve and polish them.
I do enjoy the programme since it is a nice balance between studies and work. The work given is varied and I'm always learning something new. The most important aspect is that the team is fantastic. They are supportive and friendly and this makes the programme that much more enjoyable.
I do feel valued since I have ben given a variety of tasks and projects and it show that BDO feel that I have the skills and abilities to work on these.
It was organised very well. Suitable amounts of training was given for me to perform well in work and in my studies as well.
I have never received help from the training provider but it seems very well organised. We are always given a mode of contact and it is always encouraged to ask questions.
My managers are very supportive. They listen to my suggestions and implement them if they deem it useful. My counselling manager has been an absolute star and has given me very constructive advice as well as lending an ear to the problems I have faced.
The salary was much more than I expected and I save about half of the money I make each month.
They are always socials and events to attend.
Yes
I have already recommended it to a friend. BDO is supportive and has given me opportunities to expand my abilities and learn new skills. I don't have to put on a persona, I can just be myself/
Research well on BDO and ask yourself key questions: why is BDO different from others?; why is BDO suitable for me?, etc. Remember what you put on your application as most of the interview would be based around this!
