My general day to day can vary depending on placement. I could be working anywhere from inside fighter jets and testing high-tech equipment, to making off aircraft grade looms and fibreoptic cables.
Having a basic domestic electrical back ground helped to build on these skills and apply them to an aircraft environment where every job needs to work, otherwise lives can be at risk.
I very much enjoy my program. It is realistically a year longer than it needs to be, but I understand the reasons why it is as long as it is.
Due to the timing within the business, things have been a bit disorganised, but this will stabilise and prosper going forwards in BAE Systems business life cycle.
I have had great support from all members of the company, bar the odd usual candidates. Generally speaking everybody wants to see you succeed.
From my training providers I have generally received very good help towards the qualification.
Regarding relatability I feel there are some gaps where the course has focused too heavily on areas like health and safety and not enough on actual aircraft knowledge. I understand the importance of the health and safety side but not at the detriment of other important areas.
There are some if you go out and find them. Most people will connect outside of work.

The job opportunities going forward from the apprenticeship can be very good if you're willing to put in the time to make friends and network. But even on the base rate you will be in a very stable and well paid job and career. Makes sense for anyone.
Keep trying! A lot of people don't get in the first time. If you don't, learn from it and try again, come back better and more knowledgeable through applying yourself else where. It is worth it when you do get in.
