  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Project management - analysing performance of a variety of teams against our budgets and targets and reporting up to director level for high level decision making. Identifying ways in which we improve our business.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have developed a wide range of skills along the way and developed others I already had. My confidence has grown exponentially and I have developed considerably as a professional. I have learnt how to use a wide range of software specific to PM.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed my programme for a variety of reasons. Although the 6 month time span in roles felt quite short, it allowed me to gain a good understanding of the business and see many different areas in a short space of time.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the structure of the programme is great. On the college side we have plenty of time to complete all assignments and our projects. We have plenty of support throughout.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive all the support we need. Both from the apprenticeship team and our own teams there is no shortage of help if needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In terms of Pearson I believe they provided a range of different material for us to utilise when completing assignments and our Projects. Our own Skills coaches were also on hand to help whenever we needed it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel as though I was already relatively proficient in a number of the skills taught on my scheme however the apprenticeship has helped me to develop them further which in turn allows me to perform better in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are always other events going on outside of work but that are provided through work itself. These can be work related activities or just purely social events.

  • Yes

  • The opportunities are endless here and if you're determined to work hard then the sky is the limit.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Learn about the company first and make sure you understand what it is you want to do within the company and why.
