Engaging with customers and colleagues to ensure an efficient and organised process that is being followed, to allow service and morale to remain at a high standard, which we are able to pride ourselves on and continue to always offer to regular customers and have them being left with a better experience than what they arrived with,
Oh, definitely. Not just from being at work and more months being added to my belt. I've been with Screwfix for a year and a half now and my skills are ever adapting. However, from the course that I am participating in for my apprenticeship as well, I am able to say that my product confidence has increased, as well as my upselling and link selling techniques.
I always love being able to offer my all, and that is definitely shown when I invest, like myself for example. I am investing in my future and my own development whilst working for Screwfix and I want to be getting out as much as I am getting in. I want this entire programme to be beneficial for me and I want to say I have done my absolute best.
At times, I feel as if the content is a bit outdated from current policies within the company and it makes it a bit more of a challenge to answer some of the questions accurately, or for me to complete my workbooks as the task has been set to me. Although, I know I can always ask my assessor or my peers for assistance.
For as much as I need. For the funding I receive from the government, which is six hours, I am able to take those to complete my coursework whilst at work on days where it may be a bit quieter. Then everyone within the team, from service assistances to management, are always happy to help me with any tasks I have set. Especially if I need a colleague to perform a risk assessment or a store walk activity.
I don't often require the assistance, because I feel comfortable in the work that I am doing. Again though, if it is required, I can always ask my assessor for additional information. There has only been the odd one or two times where I haven't had the correct document, or I have misunderstood a question, and I've asked for clarificaiton.
Well it allows me to be actively thinking about my duties and also how I am presenting myself, as well as representing the company and being the face of the brand for my trade counter. I try to think about each interaction, customers and colleagues alike, in a way where I ask myself, how could I make this a positive experience?
Within our break room, there are plenty of resources and activities showcased. As well as there will be the occasionally work get together, which helps build team morale, but other than that there isn't much else for as far as I am aware. We have our annual Screwfix Live event, however I am unable to attend due to how it is far down south and a distance for me to travel. I would like to in the future though, to network myself with colleagues, as well as to be introduced to brand ambassadors and to attend showcases of specific products or new ranges that we are expected to see.
Yes
For everything that I have seen and witnessed, Screwfix has been a great place to work. There are options available to yourself, and there is development within the company. The company invests in you for as much as they want you to invest in them. Other companies in which I have worked, have not cared for me as much, and it is a refreshing change of pace. I feel valued and as if my work has meaning.
Just to be yourself, to be honest, go into the position as a new experience, and leave anything negative at the door. Allow yourself to see it as a way to future yourself, your own abilities, and your own understand as well. Remember at the end of the day, you're applying to be a part of a team.
