Day to day I am responsible for the welfare, safety and teaching of children ages 3 months to 2 years.
I have learnt new skills around the EYFS which is the curriculum we follow and how I need to implement it, I have also learnt more about the legislations around my work.
I find the communication with tutors isn't great and the pace at which my work comes through is slower than I complete it. But when I do talk with tutors they're helpful.
The structure is a bit odd to follow, there's lots of submitting already existing paperwork and not much about your own learning. I also find learning journals to be hard to regularly complete.
I get one day set a week where I do my apprenticeship work which is really helpful to stick with deadlines but they also get a bid confused by the work I'm being set sometimes and what it's asking me to do.
Not much at all, I have only spoken with a tutor about four times and I'm already half way through the course. Feedback is quite slow as well so when I need to make changes it's usually delayed.
A lot of it is knowledge I already partially had due to doing the job already for about a year, however, the more legal side of my job and the on paper rules and regulations are things it's helped me understand the need for more.
Not really, we occasionally throw events but it's only a few times a year and other than that it's just the staff meetings I can use for learning journals which makes it hard to come up with things to write about.
Yes
The company itself is friendly and welcoming and happy to help where they can, it's just that they can't always help past a certain point and there isn't much room for personal or professional growth so it can feel stagnant.
Make sure you really know what you want next from your job and experience because it's easy to get demotivated, but also they're lovely people and if it's something the person really wants it's a great place for it.
