I work in the baby room area of the nursery, looking after babies aged between 12 weeks to 18 months. I help support the room lead/colleagues with the day to day care of the babies; feeding, sleeps, support in mealtime/snack feeds, nappy changing and planning activities for their age group.
I have learnt how to use the bottle machine and the day to day running of the room, with regards to when each baby has a feed, sleep, nappy change and what they need support on in relation to the EYFS. I have developed my time management and being able to plan activities around babies individual needs.
The programme has help me gain a better understanding of how Safeguarding is fundamental in looking after children and the procedures that are in place for the welfare of the children in our care.
The programme is very well structured. it is easy to understand where to find resources on Onefile and how to complete tasks.
If I ask a question or need support then it is given. However, it is very one sided. My employers struggle to allow me time I am entitled to during work hours, to do apprentice related work. To date, I have currently not been given anytime during works hours. My employers do not hold any type of meeting with me or ask how I am doing.
I receive a great deal of support from the training provider. My tutor always responds to emails in a reasonable time. My tutor provides me with the confidence to completed my discussions.
It helps me perform better by knowing polices and procedures that put the welfare of the children at the forefront. I have gained a greater understanding on how the EYFS structure supports each child individually.
