I assist with the nurses in their daily routines. I do dressing and take blood and review care plans. I also do risk assessments and asses new potential residents. I look after and monitor people daily watching their health and well-being.
So many. I’ve learnt a lot about assessments and it’s really helped me when I asses potential residents. I also learnt about mental health which many of our current residents have and it’s help me improve their overall wellbeing as I know new ways to deal and address it.
I really enjoy it, I love learning new things and excelling in my career. This course is exactly what I wanted and needed. I’m trying my hardest and appear to be doing well so far. It’s been an amazing help in my understanding of how things work. Overall I am helping people better than before.
Very well. My trainer is amazing always offering help and checking on how I’m doing and progressing. If I want more work she assigns me it.
I could use more support really. It started well but now I only get a day maybe 2 working with the nurses so I’m not getting as much experience as I would like. They don’t ask me about my course or how I’m progressing. I recently went to my manager and asked for more days/ hours with the nurses to excel in my course but as of yet nothing has changed.
So much support. I can’t fault them.
I have progressed and learnt so much. I’m doing so much better having learnt more into depth about laws and how they affect what we do here. The over wall well-being of my residents has certainly improved because I have more knowledge in how to care and help them.
No there is not.
No
Unfortunately we always seem to be short staffed. Staff have left and haven’t been replaced. Meaning I’m on the floor a lot more now and not with the nurses getting the experience I want and need. It’s a very hard job which I do love don’t get me wrong, but we are not recognised for it or rewarded (not that we should have to be) but it would be nice. Other homes in the area also pay more.
Look around at other homes first as they appear to pay more. BUT my nursing home is lovely and the staff and residents are beautiful
