As a residential support worker, my role is to care for and support the young people in my care, helping them to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Doing my level 4 apprenticeship has been using in Learning new skills whilst also refreshing my knowledge in some keys areas. It has been useful in understanding things I may come across in my role and seeing what steps I can take.
I like the fact that it can be done at home and that I can choose dates for workshops that suit my needs.
I feel like it is very organised and find the use of my learning portal helpful and informative.
My employer is very supportive and often checks in with how I am getting on.
My personal tutor assigned to me has been helpful in supporting me. She checks in every 6 weeks to see how I am getting on and I'd available to contact at any time.
So far it has been useful in getting to understand my role in a deeper meaning.

Just be yourself and maintain clear communication. It can be a challenging job so be honest with yourself about feelings and talk it through during supervisions.
