  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Supporting Project Management team dealing with live Solar PV installations for commercial clients, internal change management on processes, roles and responsibilities and recruiting of new operation staff. Assist design, sales, commercial, QHSE and finance departments with best practices and reviewing pipeline on new, existing and previous projects/clients.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, improving leadership capabilities, communications are always improving, driving meetings and mentoring multiple people across the business to support best versions of each other and progressing with good habits. Reviewing personnel and recruiting with new theories via the apprenticeship.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The apprenticeship was great, my learning coach was amazing, there were some areas for improvement on a couple of the workshops, but I passed on my thoughts in hope to improve future education and thank the teaching team.

    9/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Well structured, and flexible enough to take into account the day job. Very appreciative of carrying out a 1-2-1 workshop when my annual leave meant I missed a group version.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I was very much self-driven, my line manager changed 4x during my apprenticeship, but those that left the business still supported me when I'd asked. Others had no parts to play generally speaking as my role captured the vast majority of the requirements already.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Regular meetings from personal learning coach, very much enjoyed our catch ups and run through the next steps. In addition, she was super helpful with mental health and had a genuine approach when discussing tough challenges.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The content is brilliant, the support from my learning tutor was outstanding, I just need to put more of it into practice as I grow in my career development.

    9/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Mitie have 'teams' to group up with, but it is very corporate. Locally we try to get together every quarter or so, but leadership have let this dwindle in the past year or so. A few groups of us do make the effort to get together though (I organised a leaving do the other month, for example).

  • 9a. Would you recommend Mitie Ltd to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • Generally speaking, very corporate and 'backside covering', if 'friends' wanted to work for a such a business then I would recommend due to the benefits available, but the day-to-day, for me personally, dealing with Mitie employees is very life sapping. - Note, the original Custom Solar people are brilliant though and we keep each other sane.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mitie Ltd?
  • Expect to be a number, learn and take away as much from the experience as you can, utilise their openness to train and develop for future potential roles.
