My role is Reception supervisor, I look after 7 receptionists. I cover receptions, as and when required. I have to find cover for absences, I create a weekly rota for each reception and this covers two shifts. I also complete the monthly Toolbox talks with them every month. I process the Annual leave and sickness. I keep a record of all daily visits. I complete building checks weekly.
I have learnt a lot since being in this role, I can converse with staff better since doing the apprenticeship. I can complete a 4 weekly rota. My I.T. skills are improving, my confidence has grown since being in this role. I can plan and manage my days confidently. I can assist in an Interview for new staff.
At the beginning I found it difficult, I was completely out of my comfort zone! I never thought I would complete it! Studying was hard for me, I had a lot of support from family and friends. I enjoyed working on different projects, finding time to revise and study was difficult on times. I enjoy the responsibilities now and I am proud of how far I have come.
I have a well structured routine, although each day is different and anything can come up during the day. I like routine but can manage change better now. I complete my daily tasks confidently and enjoy my responsibilities. I look forward to taking on new projects now. I like to keep up to date with my team daily.
The support I receive from my Line Manager is really good and much appreciated! I feel we have both grown in our roles, we work well together. My colleague, who I work very closely with, is such a support to me and we support each other. We sit down often and talk through anything that is going on.
My training provider was a star! He was really supportive, I wasn't the best student or the brightest! He really helped me with my studying, anything I didn't understand, he would take time to help and explain. He was very patient and he got me through the times I struggled.
I received a Distinction, I was amazed, I had so little faith in myself and not a great deal of confidence. My results have given me the boost I needed. I do perform more confidently, I have two years experience now and with every day the confidence grows, I feel I can manage my team well and on my own if I needed too.
I always try to get involved with the outside activities. we all work well together and we mix well in social situations. I have also attended professional events, which, two years ago would have been my worst nightmare. The events always go better than I think they will go! This has pushed me out of my comfort zone.
Yes
Over the years that I have worked here, for a few different companies, Mitie, for me have been the best. They have supported me, when I thought I couldn't progress any further, they believed in me and supported me. They still support me and I know I can go to them for support if I need it.
Advice I would give, be honest, be open, be up for a challenge! Mitie will support you. Show them you can do a good job and that you enjoy it. you will reap the benefits.
