I work within a Key Control Testing team to ensure that were protecting the bank via thorough testing of the controls set in place.
I have learnt how to build professional relationships with people in my team and across the bank with wider teams. I have learnt how to use various new systems and advanced my problem solving within all of those.
I have enjoyed the programme, learning about how it is financial institutions are actually built and how they operate on a day-to-day basis. I have made new friends through the time spent at the business. I do feel like now would be a good time to move around the business and change what it is I do.
The programme was a bit shaky to start, due to a mix of changing teachers and the team within the business not necessarily being used to having an apprentice. But they made sure I was very well looked after, so once it got going it was seamless and I was able to progress very well.
They made sure I had ample time to complete the tasks needed for my apprenticeship whilst always being there to support me with any questions I had or able to direct me towards someone that could help me if that was more of their area of expertise. They would always ask me on how I was progressing and if there was anything they could do to help.
My training provider/apprenticeship teacher was beyond incredible, she went out of her way to help me progress always making sure she was available to answer any questions I had about any of the topics. Always gave me the best advice and steered me in the right direction. She really helped me progress through this and achieve my results.
The risk side of the qualification is used every day within what I do, but going forward I would like to get more involved in the compliance side of it and move more towards the second line. But the training has immensely helped me progress, as i have a better understanding of the inner workings of a bank and the problem solving skills it gave me.
I have attended a few networking events through work
Yes
Its great place to work as voted by the Sunday Times. Its a very friendly and happy place to work, the offices are nice so going into the office doesn't feel like a chore. As its a bit of a smaller bank, you can feel far more connected to people than you can at a big bank. So your able to make connections across the bank.
Be confident, have a smile on and make sure that you know what your applying for. There's great opportunities within the bank to move around and experience different areas.
