Project Control: Controlling budgets and insuring that projects keep to timescales and to cost. Additionall i control resourse demand and ensure that the demand placed on each project is accurate
Yes, i have developed skills in both project control and project management through the undertaking on work based learning and a higher apprenticeship/degree at college.
I enjoy the project management tasks i undertake more than project control. Although i am fairly skilled at project control work, including the use of databases and spreadsheets, i am more interested in the project management side
I feel fairly valued although i do feel project control is not the absolute best use of my ability. I feel underutilised by the company and not trusted to take on the more complicated tasks i know i can handle
The programme i am has undergone many changes since i joined so there has been inevitable teething problems as a result. On the whole the structure of the programme is well organised although sometimes the execution isnt great. There has been quite a few times when failings by those managing the scheme has resulted in greatest impact to the students
I receive enough support in order to gain the grades i want although i do prefer a much more independent style of learning. Other people who prefer and need a more intense and personal service may suffer.
I recieve enough support to do my job effectively. This is very much dependent on who your line manager is though, for example, some line managers are poor at people management and fail to give the suitable work and encouragement to aid development
I get paid enough to pay my bills and rent although i feel the pay grade i currently operate at to be below my ability. I feel that being on the scheme means that pay is controlled and limits progression to their framework
I havnt had much opportunity to take part in tasks outside of work although this not something i have really pursued. I have a fairly busy life as it is without adding in extra work related activities. That said, i have not become aware of any opportunities, i think it is definitely something you would have to personally pursue and would not be handed to you.
Yes
The opportunity to do a degree and not have to spend the rest of your life paying it back is great. Also it gives you great experience to take forward in your life; be it at BAE Systems or not.
Keep your head down and get on with things. Drawing attention to yourself for any reason isnt great and i think hard work should be the only thing you should try to get recognised for.
