Overseeing day to day operations of a 16+ supported accommodation provider for looked after children. This includes staff management, risk management, safeguarding, multi-agency working, rotas, and staff training and development. I am also required to complete reports and am responsible for ensuring staff in the homes work effectively and complete all required tasks.
Developed management skills further and learnt to manage competing demands.
I am enjoying what I am learning and how I can apply this to my future career aspirations. I enjoy working with my NVQ tutor as he is supportive and helpful.
Well structured for my needs. My tutor sets me tasks and assignments to complete each month and my employer gives me the autonomy to fit these around my workload.
I receive enough support for my needs. I am able to take time out of my day to ensure my work is completed on time. My line manager supported me in the beginning when my previous assessor was unsupportive to ensure I had the support to complete my work.
As much as required. My training provider gives me a good amount of resources and answers my questions without being too overbearing. My mentor is always available when needed.
Giving me the skills and experiences as well as knowledge to run a successful children's home.
