I am currently working as a project controller. This entails working alongside the project manager to aid in the day to day running of a project. We monitor and report on the progress of the project.
I have both learned new skills and developed others. My communication skills have dramitcally improved having to present to different stakeholders as well as me learning the wider interpersonal skills needed for the role
I never wanted to go to soley university, and this programme has given me the chance to earn whilst i learn. I thoroughlly enjoy this balance and look forward to coming into work every morning.
BAE Systems do a great job of making you feel valued, especially in lower teams. There are various schemes that incentivise you to do the best you can at work and be rewarded to show you are a valued member of the company.
The programme is well set out and well run by the scheme managers. Lessons are clearly learnt by the students feedback and alterations are made to ensure the students are getting the best out of their apprenticeship.
There is always someone to go to if help is needed on the scheme. Both scheme managers are only a phone call or email away and will always do what is necessary to get your problem resolved.
The support from the employer is harder to come by and i dont think it is advertised enough who the points of contact are for any problems you may have in your area.
I cannot stress enough how well paid this apprenticeship is. I have friends on apprenticeships with different companies and i am earning upto 5 times what they earn. This is more than sufficent.
BAE Systems runs a wide varitey of activities, from sponsored bike rides to rugby teams. If there is something that someone wants to start up, the company will also be more than willing to accomodate and advertise.
Yes
There would be no hesitation in my mind to recommend a friend to BAE Systems. The benefits and opportunities you get here are second to none and you are always felt welcomed and valued.
If at first you dont succeed, ensure you persist. A little hard work will come back and benefit you ten fold when BAE Systems reward you with a full time position.
