Mechatronics is a multi trade apprenticeship where you learn the basis of electronics, electrical maintenance, control and instrumentation and mechanical maintenance. You do practical tasks as well as having to do knowledge questions and referencing for evidence to pass the apprenticeship. Its a long process.
Yes definitely. I have learned many new skills from this apprenticeship that i never knew before. I believe i will always be able to use the new skills i learnt.
I would say its a 50/50. This is due to me enjoying the practical tasks but when it comes to the knowledge questions and referencing it becomes very draining as i didn't know i needed to do this to pass the apprenticeship. Its also an obscene amount of questions.
When i first joined the company and apprenticeship there was no structure. Us new mechatronic apprentices had no clue what work we needed. This was due the course being new as it was only 3 years old and only one manager. However a structure has been put in place for the new years.
With in the academy i feel like i do receive support on different tasks but the support is from my training managers. However, this is as far as the support goes because as an apprentice i have had next to no contact with anyone who is on site trying to push me to get ahead.
I feel like AWE does support us to get are qualifications even if it may take longer then usual. It does take a while to gain the support but its not always the best.
N/A this is because i am still working towards my qualification.
Yes there are opportunities for many activities to get involved in. Sometimes it may be work related or a charitable event. An experience i had was that us apprentices set up an airsoft day for team bonding.
Yes
Because there are many opportunities that AWE brings accept i wouldn't recommend my apprenticeship.
I would say to choose a job you enjoy or if you want to change career path you can do that at AWE.
