Currently we do hand fitting everyday and use pillar drills and do filing and scraping. Soon we will be moving onto the machines and either using a lathe or a mill
I have learnt how to file and scrape and how to use engineers blue. I've also learnt how to fully set up and use a pillar drill.
I enjoy the friendly atmosphere and work environment it's just a bit boring at the moment as we are still doing hand fitting 3 months in but I know that I will enjoy the program even more when we get onto machines as we use lathes at college at I really enjoy that so I can't wait to actually get onto the machines at work
I think that the structure of the program is really well done and flows through and that we almost always have work to do and it is really well run. The training managers are really useful and help us all out as well and make the organisation stay well put together. The only problem is when you have to wait for a machine in work as there aren't enough, for example like there only being 3 pillar drills so not everyone can go on them at once
We get a lot of help and support from the company either through higher up individuals or training managers and then there is also a pastoral team on board on site if anything goes wrong and you need mental support
We get a lot of help to stay on task and up to date, we also get given goals so that we can work towards them. They also make sure we know what we need for to get the qualifications and what we need to meet them
.
There is a recreational ground at work for us to join clubs
