  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • With a team of 4 we start the day by preparing reakfast, administer medication, support with personal care, tide up their rooms, do laundry. Each service user has a daily activity. The activity include walk or drive into the community, or inhouse entertainment.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to deal with a service user who lost both hearing and speech at teenage. Because he has no idea of maketon he devises his sign language which we learn fast to be able to support him.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This is a useful and relevant program which provides an opportunity to depend my understanding of the people we support, so that I don't miss out on the opportunity to treat them as individuals with personalised care. I have also learnt about diversity, inclusion, for both PWS and workmates

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The start was bumpy and almost directionless. With a new DC things have improve tremendously. The new DC is doin everything human to redirect the programme. This has its down side because we have had to go back to areas covered last year with the other DC.

  • The employer supports me very well.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • With the coming in of the new DC, support has doubled. The DC has taken it upon herself to revisit modules which were covered by the previous DC. There is improved feedback.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This qualification has made me aware of (i) the role and challenges of a leader (ii) my role in a position of being led by someone, and (iii) my relationship with people we support. I am now fully quipped do support plans, review risk assessments, assist new people joining the company.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As a driver I take people we support out on a drive in the community. We will then walk in the parks around. Have a cup of coffee, walk back to our vehicle. There are indor games like puzzles, cooking, or invite our neighbours for a BB.

  • Yes

  • The company treats everyone equally, with dignity, and resepct.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accomplish?
  • This company gives everyone an opportunity to showcase their talents and skills in supporting people with learning disabilities. They promote smooth relationships between staff and people we support on the one hand and good relationship among mebers of staff.
