I work for a Council in their HR department. I manage the Admin side for most of my colleagues. My job role is new to the company so my overall job role is subject to change.
I am currently only on my second module, but I have learnt a lot more than I would have expected to learn (I have done Communications and Stakeholders)
The programme is very enjoyable and my tutor is always there should I need any assistance for anything.
I think the programme is very structured. There is a formal review with my tutor and manager every 3 months, which gets booked in advance. And my tutor is always able to attend the module sessions every month.
My manager is very helpful, and allows me a day a week to focus purely on my apprenticeship work. She also likes to get involved with what I am learning with my tutor, to make sure my day to day work load helps my apprenticeship.
My tutor is always there when I have a question. In my first month, I was confused by the purpose of Off the job Hours, and my tutor dedicated half hour to go onto a call with me and help me understand.
Due to the work done in my apprenticeship, I now have more background information for my job, which helps me do my job effectively.
Due to my position in my organization, I am able to assist and take part in events that happen. As of today I have taken part in 2 career fairs, 1 staff event but are working towards a second in the next week.
Yes
They are able to broaden your knowledge base, whilst providing support even if you may not need it.
Make sure your manager is very helpful and is aware that you will need to create a balance of work and learning. You will also need to dedicate at least half a day a week so you can work purely on your learning work.
