I am a supervisor for Toolstation. I serve customers and manage colleagues on a day-to-day basis.
I have developed many skills over my apprenticeship, such as being able to manage a team in an effective way, while driving sales in a constantly-changing environment.
I enjoyed being able to learn on my own, but having help when needed. I was fully independent and felt like the work I was doing had a purpose.
LEAP's programme was well-structured. I never felt lost or confused as to where to find any information about each module, or where to turn in required work. Communication was well on point whenever I needed it.
I received all the support I needed both locally and online. If my manager couldn't help with an answer, they would direct me to the correct person. I work in a small, quiet store, so there was plenty of time for me to get my work done.
I received much more support than I thought I would get. I wasn't expecting how honest and open my coach would be in accommodating how I completed my work. Over the past year, my family suffered a few losses and personal issues, which my coach was happy to help extend any sort of due date. A massive shout-out to my coach for being an exceptional coach throughout.
I know 100% more than I did when starting the apprenticeship. There were so many terms and ways to do things that I have never heard of prior. Having a deeper understanding of the company through the apprenticeship also makes me feel more confident in my role.

They're a very welcoming company to work for. It feels a lot less restrictive to work here as well.
Don't think you won't be able to work here, just because you have no knowledge of the products we sell. The customer base is also a lot more laid back than a standard retail store.
