  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I'm in a rotational apprenticeship, so every 5 months I rotate my position within SJP. I am currently placed in Client liaison which involves managing complaints, and addressing/ adjusting these where necessary, consisting of managing an inbox, gathering client documents, hosting teams calls and communicating with advisors and colleagues.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my time management skills ensuring I stay on top of my studies, apprenticeship duties and my main role. Furthermore my confidence has improved in speaking to others and presenting, as well as confidence in my own skills and ability to complete work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy the programme, it enables me to learn and gain first hand experience contributing to my time in office. There is so much support from managers and apprenticeship staff, with all of them pushing you to be the best version of yourself.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well structured, where I change rotation ever 5 months. There is eLearning every month to ensure you are developing your knowledge however is it your responsibility to ensure this is completed. There is also regular catch ups with your managers to provide feedback on your development

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The managers are so supportive, you can speak to them anytime, and as long as you are open they will be able to help. Your manager will have regular catch ups with you and you are surrounded by people who are all more than willing to help

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Davies, the apprenticeship provider also offer lots of support, and will have regular catch ups with you to ensure you are on track and being supported.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification provides me with fundamental knowledge within financial services, and enables me to be able to understand the processes and products in SJP and how I fit in the company.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is loads of extra curricular activities, such as early careers events which include careers fairs and mock interviews in secondary schools. There is a vast array of sports and wellbeing groups in SJP and each of them are advertised and open to anyone.

  • 9a. Would you recommend St. James's Place to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • SJP is the largest Wealth Management company in the UK and is rapidly growing, however they do not forget about their staff and everyone is treated with the upmost importance. There is plenty of room for growth and SJP will support you all the way.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to St. James's Place?
  • Ensure you understand the Structure of Sjp e.g. Partners, head office. Also ensure to look at the FCA and their role, and why you want to work for SJP, specifically the apprenticeship you apply for. :)
