  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • My work experience was mainly surrounding audit and seeing how different procedures worked around different audit stages for firms. I primarily worked on EGAs, contacted clients and helped out in the team that I would be assigned to for that engagement.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • I learnt a lot of new technical skills as I had to primarily work with Excel and use various different softwares (eg. to get in touch with the client, etc.) but I also gained a lot of soft skills that revolved around improving communication, prioritizing certain tasks over others, etc. Regarding training, I gained a whole new outlook on what audit actually is. My biggest takeaway was learning about an auditor's actual role and how this is facilitated within audit firms.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I really enjoyed my work experience. There were so many perks to this placement - the biggest one being gaining an insight into the field I'm really passionate to work in! The office location fit my preferences perfectly, the people I worked with were so helpful and overall it was a really good experience as I had a lot to take away by the end of it.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • My work experience was quite well organized when I was booked onto clients. The team knew what needed to be done and would accordingly inform me of my tasks and help me out with them. Since it was not busy season, I was not booked onto a lot of work which was not the most ideal situation, but otherwise it was well put together!

  • PwC integrates their values in every step they take which is something I appreciated a lot whilst on placement. The company culture aligns with my goals and visions for my line of work someday which has only strengthened the fact that I do want to return and work under this company long-term.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • It's a really rare opportunity to get to work under such a big audit firm; so whilst I made the most of it, I realized that this is definitely a field I can imagine working in. Accounting has so many potential jobs to go into which can get overwhelming at times, but this work experience really made Audit stand out for me and consider it as my long-term role.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • I was paid a monthly salary for the entire duration of placement and was reimbursed for any expenses relating to travel, accommodation and training.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • A lot of the networking really took place whilst being booked on engagements with the team I was assigned to. We were assigned buddies from the year above so it was nice to get to know them whilst on placement as we mainly turned to them for advice.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • PwC's rank speaks for itself- it is one of the big 4 audit firms for a reason. Whilst working with them, the exposure I got to audit exceeded my expectations. The firm has a good blend of systematic procedures whilst still incorporating individual judgement, there is good work-life balance for a majority of the employees, you feel recognized and important when working alongside people and their values are always kept in line with any work carried out. Overall, it is such a good firm to work for!
